Sweet Sixteens 'Set
Women's basketball ruled Monday, and now both fields are down to the sweet sixteen.
Today is Tuesday, March 26th.
Ohtani says he didn't bet on baseball. Given that he surely has lots of lawyers, I doubt any of them told him to tell a bunch of lies. I think we need to ask the dog, Dekopin, whom he said you can call "Decoy" in America.
SUNDAY BETTING RECAP:
SELECTION: COLORADO +4.5 (-110) FANDUEL
RESULT: WON
Got there in the end, Marquette is very good. Not the best end-of-game execution to watch, unless you had the +4.5.
SELECTION: UTAH STATE +11.5 (-110) BETMGM
RESULT: LOSS
Got blasted, bad bet.
SELECTION: ALABAMA -5.5 (-118) FANDUEL
RESULT: WON
Closed -6 or higher everywhere, and they deserved to cover.
MONDAY BETTING RECAP
NO WAGERS SUGGESTED
NCAAW BASKETBALL RECAP MONDAY
Notre Dame came out firing in the first half scoring 43 points, and they cruised to an easy victory over Ole Miss.
NC State plays great defense, if they start to shoot it, watch out.
Syracuse nearly came back to defeat Uconn but the Huskies proved too much with Paige Bueckers leading the way with 32 points, that's 30 straight Sweet 16 appearances.
Caitlin Clark and Iowa survived a scare. The foul discrepancy was massive, but that's how West Virginia wanted the game and to their credit, they almost pulled the upset as +15 point dogs.
Oklahoma came closest to the upset, but in the end, couldn't get it done vs Indiana.
UCLA had a big second half to move to the Sweet 16.
USC and JuJu Watkins looked great, especially late.
Gonzaga outshot Utah in the late game, they'll be the final Sweet 16 team.
More on the Women's Sweet 16 later in the week.
MEN'S NCAAB SWEET SIXTEEN
The betting favorites were strong over the weekend, aided by first-round upsets that led to some sizeable favorites in round two. We are now down to 16 though, we’ll see how sweet it will be.
THURSDAY GAMES
709 PM EST CLEMSON VS ARIZONA -6.5 O/U 152.5
I make it -7.5, so I'll pass. Interestingly, Clemson had game-planned for Caleb Love when he played at UNC.
739 PM EST SAN DIEGO STATE VS UCONN -10.5 O/U 135.5
I only make this around -7 for UConn on a neutral, but maybe the game being in Boston has some bearing. Uconn is possibly better than last year, and these teams met in the National Championship. I'd only take the +10.5 for SDSU but I will pass for now.
939 PM EST ALABAMA VS NORTH CAROLINA -4.5 O/U 173.5
I make this -0.5 for North Carolina, and -4.5 is way too many. Alabama won’t play any defense though as they are by far the worst defense left in the tourney, but the +3.5 points is too much to pass on.
SELECTION: ALABAMA +4.5 (-110) BETRIVERS
1009 PM EST ILLINOIS VS IOWA STATE -1.5 (-110) O/U 145.5
I make it -2, I don't have an opinion either way.
FRIDAY GAMES
709 PM EST NC STATE VS MARQUETTE -6.5 O/U 150.5
I'm confident in my Marquette number, I'm not confident on my NC State number, but +6.5 is way too many, I make it -3.5 for Marquette. I think Marquette can win the whole thing, and NC State has proved they can beat anyone in the last two weeks, so +6.5 seems juicy.
739 PM EST GONZAGA VS PURDUE -5.5 O/U 154.5
I make it -7, and Gonzaga has had the SOFTEST draw thus far besides Duke, I'll pass.
939 PM EST HOUSTON VS DUKE -4.5 O/U 133.5
I make it -5 for Houston, and I'm confident that I don't want to play this one. Less Jim Nantz appearances on TV though, please.
1009 PM EST CREIGHTON VS TENNESSEE -2.5 O/U 143.5
I made Tennessee -1 for Tennessee here, so I'm interested in the Money Line on Creighton. It's currently +140 at Caesars, and that is surely not going to last. I thought Tenn was a bit overvalued coming in and Creighton a bit undervalued, so this is a perfect storm. Don't wait though, as I did make it -1 so I think it'll come back in that direction.
SELECTION: CREIGHTON MONEY LINE +140 (CAESARS)
HIGH ON: Hip Drop Tackles being outlawed. Nobody wants season-ending injuries, but the outrage would have had you think this happened all the time. The data suggested it only increased recently, hence the rule change. The reaction is much larger than the news, that's the NFL.
P.S. Once they said they had no plans to play on Wednesday, we knew they were always going to play on Wednesday.
low on: Betting scandals getting picked up by media and other people that don't understand wagering. It's good that people get caught, that means it is happening less frequently than before. I'm low on how it's being covered. The message is clear though, if you bet on your sport, they will find you.
BETTING NUGGET OF THE DAY: Iowa and Caitlin Clark have won their first two games and advanced to the Sweet 16, and their price to cut the nets down has grown from +600 to +750.
